- LAKE COMO _ LOVENO
Important historical property dateing back to the seventeenth century, lived in and frescoed and restored in the early nineteenth by the important painter, writer and Statesman Massimo D’Azeglio, where he painted on the walls 18 tempera paintings, its only one.
It is mostly for the tempera paintings that the villa has been listed among the buildings considered by the Italian State of great artistic and historical interest.
The villa, and all ancient Loveno, is about 100 metres above Menaggio, exposed to the south-east enjoys a wide view of the lake center and of great part of the Lecco branch.
Compendium propertry consisting of 790 sqm Villa completed with tower with panoramic covered terrace plus 410 sqm dependance used in the past as carriages and servant's homes, greenhouse with Lemon house and an additional small dependance. The house is completed with 5000 sqm secular park designed by the renowned architect Giuseppe Balzaretto.
The most notable trees and shrubs are: Araucaria, Azalea, Camelia, Camphor, cedar of Lebanon, Cypress, strawberry tree, beech, gingko biloba, Magnolia (grandiflora and Japanese), lemon, Olea fragans, strobes pine, Rhododendron and Tulipifera.
The property is also richly decorated in its interior and exterior and could be sold completed with all the original epoch furnishings largely owned by Massimo D’Azeglio. A central staircase, with XIX century decorated ceiling, begins on the ground floor, passing trought the first floor, leads to the tower built by D' Azeglio called “painters studio”.
Adjacent and accessible from the villa, the "water House" is a rustic that has not been inhabited since before the 1935 and ots a large wooden carriage door that opens on the little square of Loveno. The only Room of the third floor, built long before the existence of municipal water, contains two water tanks that ensure pressure and reserve in periods of drought.
The two buildings enclose two small adjacent courtyards, one paved with marble and the other equipped with an ancient laundry fountain built in 1938 with a painted niche.
The property is suitable as an important private property or as a cultural structure.
